A New Era Of Working Towards Ending A Coming Disaster

One of the largest threats in this world that affects everyone living on planet Earth is climate change. It threatens society, the economy, and predominantly the environment. According to the IPCC, â€Å"Each of the last three decades has been successively warmer at the Earth’s surface than any preceding decade since 1850 (Voiland).† Future generations of mankind are put at risk because of problems we the present are creating. Climate change, the result of greenhouse gases thickening the atmosphere, challenges the environment by warming the climate, rising sea levels, jeopardizing human health, and possibly shattering the economy, but actions by the UN, different countries, and other organizations have initiated a new era of working towards ending a coming disaster. Climate change is arising primarily due to human activities, as technology and pollution coincide to dismantle the contentious layer of greenhouse gasses. Heat trapping gasses, mainly carbon dioxide, are constantly adding to the atmosphere because of the burning of fossil fuels. As WWF Global points out, the layer of greenhouse gases acts much like a warm blanket to protect the Earth from the harsh iciness of the universe. When fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas are burned, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. Resulting in a thicker coat of greenhouse gases, the climate then warms up additionally.
